近期USB-IF针对USB Type-C规范发布了两个Engineering Change Notice (ECN)，一为「TBT3 Cable Requirements Update」， 另一个为「Extend Thunderbolt 3 requirement to USB4 Gen 3 Passive Cables」。这两个ECN确立了USB4 Passive Cables需全面支持Thunderbolt。
在ECN「TBT3 Cable Requirements Update」中，首先更新了5.4.2章节USB4 Discovery and Entry Flow，将附录F中TBT3 Discover_SVID与Discover_Mode相关定义加入，让USB4 passive/ active cables多了是否兼容于Thunderbolt的检查机制。
在6.2.1.2章节则新增Table 4-2a USB4 Cable Identify Summary。但该table只说明USB4 re-driver/ re-timer active cables「必须」支持Thunderbolt，仍未要求USB4 passive cables必须支持Thunderbolt。
F.2.9章节的Table F-14 TBT3 Cable Functional Difference Summary则针对USB4 re-driver/ re-timer active cables里，PD e-Marker宣告如何支持Thunderbolt做了如下红字的修正。
最后在ECN「Extend Thunderbolt 3 requirement to USB4 Gen 3 Passive Cables」中，则再将6.2.1.2章节新增Table 4-2a USB4 Cable Identify Summary里的Note 1标注在passive字段中，至此确定了USB4 Passive Cable全面支持Thunderbolt。
上述两个ECN的发布，使得USB4 passive cables取得USB-IF认证测试需要多执行TBT3 compatibility相关测试。目前预计开始执行的时间会落在今年(2021)的7月中，各位厂商如果想验证手上的USB4 cables是否能pass新测项，欢迎百佳泰cn_service@allion.com.cn做进一步的洽询。
